Bbq no.1

July 26th

On a lovely friday afternoon, Nethra and I set off from isleworth to Orpington for a barbecue at my boss David's house.

Nethra was reasonably quiet on the way to clapham and had a staring contest with a big african american woman! She was fine too on the way to london victoria. In the train to Orpington, I took her out of the pram and propped her up the seat near the window. She was so excited that she stated yelling at the top of her voice! A good pair of lungs in such a small person. She finally fell asleep on the walk to his house.

Oliver helped us up the stairs and I let Nethra sleep in the pram a little while longer as I went around and said hello to the people I knew. She woke up and was very quiet as it was a new place and there were so many people. She didn't have much of her afternoon milk as she was more interested in Oli making funny faces. Soon she started going to whoever was willing to carry her. Nethra was extremely will behaved and played with her toys on the picnic blanket I took. During a game of trivial pursuits when everyone cheered Nethra was startled and started crying but she calmed down quickly.

After two and half hours we said goodbye and headed home along with Abhi. Nethra again was loud on the train and kept making faces at Abhi!

She had the remaining milk from afternoon and became a bit cranky as we reached clapham and was crying as we got to platform 6 from were we needed to take the train. I promised her that I would pick her up in the train which I did.

We stood for a bit after which she  sat down with me. She however kept takling to a man who was making faces at her. She sat on her ownon the seat and enjoys scratching at the seat fabric.

When we finally reached isleworth there was no one to help us so I started trying to bring the pram down on my own when a very nice Nepali man helped us out.

Once we got home we had a quick bath dinner and off to bath. She was adorable throughout the long day we had. <3

Top two

I noticed yesterday and nana confirmed today that Nethra's top two teeth were making an appearance.

In the afternoon when trying to get her to sleep, I heard her gnash her teeth! It wa amazing how much sound a tooth just coming out of the gum can make with two other tiny teeth!

First little steps!

Today I held Nethra's hand as she stood and moved one shoulder forward and she put that corresponding leg forward, did that to the other shoulder and she moved the other leg. She took about 10-12 steps holding onto my hand towards the middle of the living room where nana was sitting.   She then held onto her nana's hand and he led her to put her hands on the arms of his chair. She then stood there for a bit while we were awestruck by what we just saw!

Strawberries

Nethra tried strawberries today for the first time. Amma sat near nethra with a bowl full of it to chop and she was eyeing it curiously . I gave her one to touch, she reached out felt it and immediately removed her hand because it was so cold.

She again tried a couple of more time before she was happy about it and took it and held it on her hand. She then gave it a quick squeeze. I immediately took it from her hand before there was any more damage.

I gave her a bite and it was a sight to see! Her face all scrunched up because it was sour and sweet! She enjoyed eating it.

Dhammal!

June 28, 2013.

Nana picked up Nethra from the room in the morning and carried her out to the sofa in the living room where she was deposited. Nethra played for a bit, knocked down her pillow and bent over to get out and fell on her head with a resounding thud. I was brushing my teeth when I heard it. Luckily nana lifted her and she soon stopped crying. When knew this was just the beginning of many more to come.

Attempt to crawl

June 25th

Nethra has been attempting to crawl over the last couple of days. She has been doing push ups and lifting her bum in the air and trying to stay like that or attempt to move. It has been very adorable and Nana and I were lucky enough to see it.

June 22

Stomach, back or side. Nethra is exploring that nowadays. As I write this, she is asleep on her left side facing away from me showing me her back :)

I found her on her stomach a couple of nights ago and it scared the living daylights out of me as I was so worried about how she got that way and how long she has been like that. She was however in deep sleep.

She is changing so much so quickly. We spoke to ajja, ammama, manna ajja, cindy aunty and chitti! everyone was so thrilled to see her.she has been a good girl

Nethra on ajja's 60th birthday

Today Ajja turned 60 and Nethra skyped with him for a long time., he was so thrilled to see her! He sang for her, made funny noises and entertained her. Nethra in turn laughed, gurgled and spoke to him.

She also spoke to ammama, chitti and rajan thatha.

Happy birthday Ajja! hope the roller coaster was fun.

Ears are pierced

June 8th

Nethra was super brave and amazingly good (as always) when we took her to get her ears pierced. The guy in the shop in Kingsbury marked where he was going to do it and then asked me to hold her head tight against my chest. When he did the first ear, she screamed so loudly. I've never heard her scream that way before. He then quickly did the second one as Nethra cried.
She clung onto me for dear life for nearly a minute till nana took over and slowly stopped crying. She was as good as gold in a couple of minutes. Harsha and Sandhya were so surprised and happy that she stopped crying so soon. The four of us were close to tears when Nethra started crying.

My baby the best and strongest.

First tooth

I can see a small tooth peeking out! Finally! I'm excited because Nethra can soon start chewing some foods and not eat puree all the time.

She started chewing already on a biscuit that I bought for her yesterday when we both went to the high street. She made a right mess of it but seemed to enjoy it. I can't wait for her to start trying new things.

7 months

My baby is seven months today! She was surrounded by her cousins, parents and aunts from her dad's side. Nethra also chatted with her ajja and ammama today. They were so pleased to see looking her all happy and cheerful and playful. My baby is growing fast and becoming smarter by the day. Love you Nethra.

Fluttering in my tummy

Nearly couple of hours from now, it will be a year since I first felt Nethra move inside my tummy. Nana and I were back home late from a friend's house warming party. I told nana that I could feel something but he didn't pay much attention to it. I also was not quite sure since I had been imagining some movement for a while.

But as I lay in the bed with my hand on my tummy I felt a slight fluttering like a butterfly was tickling me. I waited a little longer and felt it again and then knew for sure that I was not imagining it and my little baby was moving and I could feel her!

That was probably one of the most beautiful things I ever felt. I felt my little baby move inside me close to two o'clock in the morning on May 20, 2012.

Nowadays and a year later, my baby flutters like a butterfly every time she sits or lies down!

Amma's surgery

Today Nethra's amma was taken for surgery to remove the gall bladder. Nethra had atha babysit till nana dropped amma and got home. She slept really well till almost 9. Then Nana was super efficient in oiling her, giving her a bath, giving inga, playing, putting her too sleep on her bed. She again was with atha till amma got back home.

Nethra realised amma was home and not putting her to sleep and troubled Nana a little bit crying. She kept saying amma, amma, amma when she was crying. Nana have amma to holds Nethra just for that magic touch till she fell asleep!

The best baby anyone could ask for.

Mum and baby unwell

Nethra's been having a blocked nose for a couple of days and has been struggling to sleep.  She slept for three hours on my layup this morning after bath.

I realized on the afternoon that I had a headache  and that has now become a sore throat.

Hopping tomorrow is a better day

Shaving of hair

On May 4th, Nethra's head was shaved at Salon 37 in hounslow. The initial cut was done by Deepak mama.
Nethra didn't cry at all and was very interested in the electric shaver instead. She was the best baby ever. Amma was a bit sad that Nethra was losing her hair but nana was excited to see her like that!

We went for lunch after that to Ahaa... Dosa.

Out in the sun

We decided to take a walk in the park today to enjoy the rarely seen sun. After a round, Nethra was put in the swing and she completely enjoyed it!

We also went to the health clinic today and Nethra and height and weight was checked. She is 9.21 kilos and 67 cms tall!

Twice a day

Today is the second day nethra's been eating two meals. I nerd to start thinking of how to vary the meals, so that they are yummy and not boring!

6 months

My baby is six months today... I've enjoyed every minute of being her amma in these few months., I could not ask for a better behaved child. I love her more than I can imagine how much I could. Muthas papa

More than tv

Rushi and Ani had a sleepover and when Nethra woke up this morning they both came in to play with her. Rushi said, "Sasha atha, do you no what I love more than tv?". "I love Nethra more than tv." Now that is saying something! Nethra's lucky to have such good brothers
